Anniversary Artifacts
Legacy of Leadership
It is incredibly exciting to reflect on 100 years of success in the Barton Malow enterprise, celebrating the milestones, growth, and achievements that have shaped our journey and paved the way for a promising future. As we’ve reached milestones through the years, there have been several interesting artifacts created for previous celebrations that take us back to what it was like 10, 25, and 50 years ago. Explore some of the ways we’ve commemorated anniversaries through the years in this historical highlight.
50th Anniversary
This & That from the Barton-Malow Company
This & That was a quarterly internal publication that Barton Malow published in the 70s and 80s. This edition highlights the company’s 50th anniversary and details the significant achievements and growth of Barton Malow over its history. The This & That publication shared news of current projects, team member updates, and construction industry developments. Team members were encouraged to submit their own announcements for recognition.
This edition includes the birth announcement (pictured below) of current President + CEO Ryan Maibach!
Barton Malow City
As a token of gratitude for Barton Malow’s 50th anniversary, the company presented clients with this lithograph of Barton Malow City. The painting included 46 structures that were representative of more than $1 billion in construction from 1924 to 1974 throughout Metro Detroit. The gift also included a piece of transfer paper that, when placed on top, identified the location and name of each project within Barton Malow City.
During that time, Barton Malow constructed some of today’s well-known buildings, including the Ford Motor Company Woodhaven Stamping Plant, Park Davis & Co. Research Lab, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, William Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak), Pontiac Silverdome, and Wayne State University Medical Center.
75th Anniversary
This postcard, written by Ben Maibach III, proudly celebrates the 75-year history of Barton Malow. Ben reflects on the firm’s humble beginnings and the collaboration between Carl Barton and Arnold Malow. It is apparent that he is honored to be a part of the lasting legacy of integrity and loyalty in Barton Malow.
“Seventy-five years brings growth, but the important values never change. ”
– Ben Maibach III, President
90th Anniversary
In 2014, Barton Malow celebrated its 90th Anniversary. The LEAPS internship program also hit its 30th year. At that time, Barton Malow employed 1,300 team members. Now, 10 years later, we stand at nearly triple that amount.
During the 90th, Barton Malow honored the hard work and dedication the team members of Barton Malow have continued to demonstrate over the years through a celebration and several other mementos.
Ben Maibach III said, “When people reach significant milestone ages like 90, others often want to know the secret to their longevity. In Barton Malow’s case, I can tell you that our endurance can be attributed to not only what we do, but how we do it. We treat everyone fairly, ethically, and respectfully, and that’s what truly matters.”
